Walking in Faith Together

At our school, walking in faith together means living out our Catholic faith and values every day, within school and alongside our parish and wider Catholic community. Faith is not simply something we learn about; it is something we live, celebrate and share through prayer, worship, the Sacraments and service to others.

Growing in Prayer

Our week begins with Celebration of the Word, reflecting on the Gospel and how we can live out its message. Weekly adult-led and pupil-prepared prayer further supports children in developing their faith and prayer life. At significant times in the liturgical year, we also come together as a school and MAC community, including praying the Rosary in October and participating in our MAC Carol Service in December.

Celebrating with Our Parish

Our strong relationship with the parish and Cathedral is central to our faith life. Children attend special Masses at the Cathedral, including the Immaculate Conception Mass on 8th December and the Chrism Mass during Holy Week. They are also invited to read at parish celebrations, including the Holy Thursday Mass celebrated by the Archbishop, while some pupils serve as Altar Servers at parish and school Masses. In the past, we have participated in the Cathedral’s annual Weekend of Faith & Culture, leading one of the Masses and celebrating alongside our wider Catholic community.

Growing Through the Sacraments

The Sacraments are an important part of our children’s journey of faith. Children preparing for Reconciliation learn about God’s mercy, forgiveness and the opportunity to begin again. Through preparation for First Holy Communion, they deepen their understanding of the Eucharist, the Last Supper and the true presence of Jesus. In preparation for Confirmation, children learn how the Holy Spirit guides and strengthens us to live courageously as followers of Jesus.

Our sacramental preparation reflects our wider mission of forming Christ-centred pilgrims of hope with kind hearts, questioning minds, a thirst for knowledge and a hunger for justice.

Home, School and Parish Together

Families share in this journey through RE-themed Inspire Workshops, strengthening the partnership between home, school and parish. Our Mini Vinnies, supported by members of the Cathedral SVP, put faith into action by learning about kindness, empathy, service and responsibility towards others.

Sharing Our Gifts and Serving Others

Our Choir also serves the wider community through events including the West Midlands Carol Concert and the Friends of the Holy Land fundraiser, using their talents to bring joy and support charitable causes.

Celebrating Christmas Together

Our annual KS2 Nativity Concert at the Cathedral, to which the parish community is warmly invited, brings us together in prayer and song to celebrate the true meaning of Christmas.

Faith in Action Every Day

Through these experiences, our children learn that faith extends beyond RE lessons: it shapes how we pray, how we serve, how we treat others and how we respond to God’s call in our everyday lives.
