Headteacher's Welcome
On behalf of the pupils, staff and governors, I would like to warmly welcome you to St Chad’s Catholic Primary School website. I hope your visit is informative and gives you an insight into the learning that takes place here, as well as the high expectations and aspirations we hold for all our pupils. We are passionate about improving children’s life chances by giving them a love of learning and a drive to succeed. Each pupil, parent, staff member and governor is a valued member of our community, and we are proud of the warm welcome we extend to all visitors.
At St Chad’s, our life is rooted in Jesus Christ, who is at the heart of everything we are and everything we do. We take pride in being part of the St Teresa of Calcutta Multi-Academy, which we joined in September 2021. We are a single-form entry school situated in Newtown, near Birmingham city centre, and we welcome children from the ages of 4–11. Ours is a truly international school, with over 20 languages spoken by our children and staff. We are also blessed with large green spaces around the school, which enhance our children’s learning and wellbeing.
We are privileged to belong to the Cathedral Parish of St Chad’s, where we have very strong links and work closely with our Parish Priest, Canon Brian McGinley, and the wider parish community. As the first School of Sanctuary in Birmingham and a UNICEF Rights Respecting Gold Award School, we place the dignity and rights of every child at the centre of school life. This commitment is deeply rooted in Catholic Social Teaching, which forms the basis of our curriculum and shapes the way we learn, live, and grow together. It encourages our children to put their faith into action through kindness, respect, and service to others.
We are committed to working in close partnership with our families, who are actively encouraged to be involved in their child’s education. We value the experience and knowledge pupils bring from their home lives and build on this through strong cooperation between home and school.
We have the highest expectations for our children to achieve their best in a safe, secure, and happy environment. We expect outstanding behaviour, hard work and respect for everyone, all nurtured within a culture of positivity.
If you would like further information, you are always welcome to contact us. We would be delighted to answer any queries or arrange a visit so you can see our school in action. Please contact the school office to make an appointment.
